2023 AAHPM Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care

March 22nd – 25th, 2023, faculty and mentees from the University of Pittsburgh’s Palliative Research Center (PaRC) and Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics visited Montréal, Canada for the highly anticipated Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. The event was presented by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA). The conference brought together over 3,400 dedicated colleagues and experts from around the world to share insights, research findings, and clinical best practices aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing the palliative and hospice care specialties.

Dr. Justin Yu and Rabbi Perlman presented, “Using Human-Centered Design to Collaboratively Develop a Hospice-Focused Educational Intervention for Black Lay Ministers.”

“Consensus-Based Guidance on Opioid Management in Individuals With Advanced Cancer-Related Pain and Opioid Misuse or Use Disorder,” by Katie Fitzgerald Jones PhD, ACHPN, CARN-AP, colleagues, and PaRC faculty mentors Drs. Bob Arnold, Hailey Bulls, and Jessica Merlin was featured as the top influential paper.
