Dr. Teresa Hagan Thomas Appointed PaRC Associate Director of Mentorship and Nursing Research

(October 12th, 2023) The Palliative Research Center (PaRC) is pleased to announce that Teresa Hagan Thomas, PhD, RN, has assumed the role of Associate Director of Mentorship and Nursing Research for PaRC at the University of Pittsburgh. In this new role, Dr. Thomas will foster a culture of mentorship and enhance the visibility and impact of nursing research at PaRC.

Dr. Thomas joined the Palliative Research Center in October 2020. She is an Associate Professor with Tenure in the Department of Health Promotion and Development at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Nursing, Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement for the Gynecological Oncology Family Caregiver Advocacy, Research, and Education (CARE) Center, and an Assistant Professor of Biobehavioral Oncology Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Her research focuses on cancer survivorship, palliative care, symptom management, mHealth interventions, and self-advocacy and currently leads an NCI funded study “Efficacy of a self-advocacy serious game intervention for women with advanced cancer.”
