Jacob Whitman PhD

Jacob Whitman, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Services Research, Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a health economist whose research examines how healthcare policy, payment models, and provider incentives influence cancer care delivery and end-of-life outcomes. His work uses quasi-experimental methods and large administrative datasets to study access to high-quality care, hospice utilization, provider behavior, and disparities in care across the cancer continuum. Jacob earned his PhD in Economics from Wayne State University in 2024 and was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health.
