Jacob Whitman, PhD is a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. He is a health economist whose research examines how healthcare policy, payment models, and provider incentives influence cancer care delivery and end-of-life outcomes. His work uses quasi-experimental methods and large administrative datasets to study access to high-quality care, hospice utilization, provider behavior, and disparities in care across the cancer continuum. Jacob earned his PhD in Economics from Wayne State University in 2024. 

In July 2026, he will be starting a position as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Services Research, Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
